Born in Fond du Lac, WI and now based in Columbus, WI, I began my career as a visual artist while being treated for combat related PTSD at the William S. Middleton Veterans hospital in Madison, WI. Initially my subject matter related to my service with the Marines in Vietnam but it soon took on a broader scope to include landscapes and portraits of fictional characters. Today painting continues to be a therapeutic exercise for me as well as a means of capturing my interpretation of the world around us. Prior to taking up painting, I enjoyed a thirty year career as an archaeologist and adjunct professor of anthropology and sociology at several UW-System colleges.
